Definitions

Blog:
A Page containing a company's experiences, observations, opinions, etc.

Newsroom:
A Page in which a company shares relevant news.

Main Page:
The Home Page of the Blog or Newsroom.

Post:
A block of content, including images, videos and links, added to the Blog or NewsRoom. In NetGen it is the Predefined Region, created from the Post or Post Share Templates, which can be placed on the Main Page, Category Page or Unique Blog Post Page.

Category:
A topic assigned to Posts.

Category Page:
A Page containing all Posts assigned to a Category. Each Post assigned to a Category will be displayed on the corresponding Category Page in addition to the Main Page. This allows the user to read all Posts, in a Category, on one page.

Category Menu:
A Menu of Categories that allows the reader to select and read all Posts assigned to a specific Category. Each company's Category Menu is unique to their Post preferences. In Netgen, it is the Categories Predefined Region.

Main Navigation Menu:
A Menu of links placed horizontally under the header image (logo) on the Blog or Newsroom. Each company's Main Navigation Menu is unique to their preferences. In NetGen it is the Main Navigation Predefined Region.

Unique Post Page:
A Page with one specific Post, used for social sharing (on Facebook, Twitter, etc). The social share function shares content directly from the Unique Post Page vs the Main Page.

Blog Templates

Blog: Bullet List with Links
Use to create a Predefined Region with a bullet list in which each bullet item links to a selected page. The bullet icon is selected from the images in the Library Generator. Choose from a pre-provided set of icons or create your own.

Blog: Calendar of Events
Use to create a Predefined Region with a list-style calendar of events which includes fields for date, title and event details.

Blog: Expanding Paragraph
Use to create an expanding Predefined Region with written content. Use the Rad Editor to customize text (example: bold a line of text to create a header or link a sentence to a page for more details). 

Blog: Facebook Fanbox 
Use to create a Predefined Region to promote a company’s Facebook Page. The Predefined Region will show the name of the company, the number of fans, and 8 random fan profile images. Template requires the Facebook Fan Page ID #.
In order to Locate the Facebook Fan Page ID, follow these steps:
1     Navigate to the Facebook Fan Page.
2     Scroll your mouse over the page's profile picture.
3     In the bottom left of the screen, a grey box with the URL will appear.
4     The page ID is the last set of digits.
       Example: www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.467282896671.281121.230671431671 where 230671431671 is the ID.

Blog: Image with Link
Use to create a Predefined Region with an image linked to an internal page (from the Content Generator) or an external page (from an outside website).

Blog: Image & Paragraph
Use to create a Predefined Region with an image selected from the Library Generator and written content, a single image with no written content, or written content without an image. Use the Rad Editor to customize text (example: bold for a header).

Blog: Post
Use to create a Predefined Region which has fields for a traditional Blog post including a headline, author, date, byline,  content, image, a video from the Library Generator, and a posted in category link. Videos selected for use in this Template should be 540 pixels in width.

Blog: Twitter Feed 
Use to create a Predefined Region featuring a company’s most current tweets including options to reply and retweet.  Template requires the Twitter account name. Example Twitter URL: http://twitter.com/#!/SEPNETWORKS. In this example, the account name is: SEPNETWORKS.

Create a Post

There is an example Post for the Blog and NewsRoom.  They are called: Blog: Example Post and NR: Example Post.  It is recommended to delete the example and start fresh.

There are two Templates to use when Posting on the Blog or NewsRoom: Post or Post SharePost Share has social sharing capabilities which allows the readers to share the Post on Facebook, Twitter etc.  Post does not have social sharing capabilities. Each Template is filed under their respective Folders.

Create a Post
1     Click on Content Generator tab, then on the Predefined Regions sub-tab.
2     In the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR).
3     Click Add Predefined Region.
4     Name the Predefined Region the title of the Post.

            Example: This is My Great Post

5     Lock the Predefined Region to the region: content.
6     Click Save Changes.
7     Under Predefined Region Blocks, click Add Block.
8     Under Add Block to Predefined Region, next to Template, from the Folder drop down menu,
       select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR); under the second drop down menu 
       select appropriate template: Post or Post Share (each will have the appropriate prefix Blog: or NR:).
9     Under Predefined Region Blocks, next to the selected template, click the blue link labeled Edit.
10   Under Block Preview, under Header click the blue link labeled Edit. 
11   Under Selected Item Editor, fill in appropriate content. 
12   Click Save Changes. 
13   Under Block Preview, under Header, select the blue link labeled Edit. 
14   Under Selected Item Editor, fill in the Header fields:

Header fields (NR: Post and NR: Post Share do not have an Author or Date field):

       Main Headline: Name of Post.  

       Author: Author of the Blog or NewsRoom Post.

       Date of Post: Date Post will be posted to the Blog or NewsRoom.

15   Click Save Changes. 
16   Under Block Preview, under Line Item, select the blue link labeled Edit. 

Line Item fields (all fields are optional):

       Content Headline: Post byline.

       Video Code: Select a video from the Library Generator. The Post and Post Share Templates
       are designed for a video width of 540 pixels. For more information on adding a video to the
       Library Generator, see Manage Images, Documents & Media.

       Padding-Bottom: We recommend using "10px". Do not fill in this field if there is no video.

       Image: Select image from Library Generator. If including an image in Post, upload first in Library
       Generator. See Manage Images,Documents  and Media.                        

       Align Left or Right: Type Right or Left to choose which side the image will display on in the Post.

       Content: Type Post content here.

Blog: Post and NR: Post will not have the four following fields:

       Site Domain 1: Type in main domain URL (Example: www.exampledomain.com).

       Page Extension1: The page extension is the same as the name of the Unique Post Page, with no
       spaces. (Example:www.exampledomain.com/examplepost - "Example Post" is the name of the
       Unique Post Page)

       Site Domain 2: Type in main domain URL a second time (Example: www.exampledomain.com).

       Page Extension 2: Type in the page extension a second time. The page extension is the same
       as the name of the Unique Post Page, with no spaces. (Example:www.exampledomain.com/
       examplepost - "Example Post" is the name of the Unique Post Page)

17   Click Save Changes. 

If using Blog: Post Share, continue with steps 18 - 19. If not, skip down to step 20.

18  Under Block Preview, under Footer, Click Edit to link to a Category Page. 

       Category Link: Select appropriate Content Page. If Category Page does not exist,
       see Create Category Page.

       Category Title: Type in appropriate Category Name.

19   Click Save Changes.
20   Your Post is ready to be added to a Page.

Note: Post Share needs a Unique Post Page to work correctly. See Create A Unique Post Page for instructions.

Create a Unique Post Page

A Unique Post Page is required for any Posts created with the Post Share Templates.  The Unique Post Page socially links to a specific Post's content vs. linking to the Main Page.

Create a Unique Post Page
1     Click on Content Generator, then on the Pages sub tab.
2     In the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR).
3     Click Add Page.
4     Name Page same as the Post's Main Headline. 

            Example: This is My Great Post (URl will be www.yourdomain.com /thisismygreatPost).

5     Under Page Layout Details drop down menu, select appropriate layout: Master Blog
       or Master NewsRoom.
6     Click Add Page.
7     Under Page Details, Click on the WYSIWYG
8     In the upper lefthand corner, Click Page Details
9     Fill in the Title, Description & Keywords. Note: This will display when shared socially,
       ie Facebook, Twitter

       Title: Type in the name of the Post

       Description: Type in a description of the Post's content.

       Keywords: Type in keywords for the Post's content.

10   Exit the WYSIWYG
11   Under Page Content Blocks, in the Content Region drop-down menu, select: Content.
12   Click Add Block.
13   Under Add Content Block to Page, select Predefined Region; from the Folder drop down menu,
        select appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR); under the second drop down menu select
        the appropriate Post.
14   Click Add Content Block.

If Main Page has a Category Menu, continue with steps 15 - 18. If not, the Unique Post Page is ready for use.

15   Under Page Content Blocks, under Content Region select: Sidebar.
16   Click Add Block.
17   Under Predefined Region, from the Folder drop down menu select the appropriate Folder:
        Blog
or NewsRoom (NR); under the second drop down menu select the appropriate
        Category Menu. 
18   Click Add Content Block.

Add Post to a Page

After a Post has been created, it will need to be added to the appropriate Page(s).

Add Post to a Page

1     Click on Content Generator, then on Pages sub tab.
2     In the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR).
3     Click on the Page in which to add the Post.
4     Under Page Content Blocks, in the Content Region drop-down menu, select: Content.
5     Click Add Block.
6     Under Add Content Block to Page, select Predefined Region; from the Folder drop down menu,
       select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR); under the second drop down menu
       select the appropriate Post.
7     Click Add Content Block.

Note: If a Post has not yet been created, see Create a Post.

Edit Category in Category Menu

Blogs are provided with a Category Menu. All links provided in the Category Menu are generic.  Customization is necessary.  We recommend deciding first on a list of Categories then, once the list has been established, create a Category Page for each Category.  After that has been accomplished, return to this section to complete the customization.

Edit Category in Category Menu
1     Click on Content Generator, then on the Predefined Regions sub tab.  
2     In the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR).
3     Click on the appropriate Category Menu Predefined Region.
 
            Example: Blog Categories 

4     Under the Predefined Region Blocks, click Edit.
5     Under Block Preview, under Line Item, select the blue link labeled Edit.
6.    Under Selected Item Editor, edit the fields:

       Link Destination: select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR); then select the
       NEW Category Content Page. If Category Page is not created, see Create a Category Page

       Link Title: Type in the Category Title.

7     Click Save Changes.
8     Repeat steps 1-7 to edit additional Categories.  

Add Category to Category Menu

Blogs are provided with a Category Menu.  Additional categories can be added and will automatically update all Pages that are utilizing the selected Category Menu Predefined Region.  For each new Category added, a Category Page will need to be created.  We recommend creating the Category Page first, then returning to this section to complete the process.

Add Category to Category Menu
1     Click on Content Generator, then on the Predefined Regions sub tab.
2     In the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR).
3     Click on the appropriate Category Menu Predefined Region. 

             Example: Blog Categories 

4     Under the Predefined Region Blocks, click Edit.
5     Under Block Preview, click Add Line Item.
6     Under Selected Item Editor, edit the fields:

            Link Destination: Select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR); then select the
            NEW Category Content Page. If Category Page is not created, see Create a Category Page.

            Link Title: Type in the Category Name.

7     Click Save Changes.
8     Repeat steps 1-7 to create additional Categories.

Create a Category Page

Blogs are provided with a Category Menu.  If additional Categories are needed, it is necessary to create a Category Page for each new Category added to the Category Menu.

Create a Category Page
1     Click on Content Generator, then on the Pages sub tab.
2     In the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR).
3     Click Add Page.
4     Name the Page. (We recommend naming the page the same as the Category title.)
5     Under Page Layout Details drop down menu, select appropriate layout: Master Blog
       or Master Newsroom.
6     Click Add Page.
7     Under Page Content Blocks, in the Content Region drop-down menu, select: Content.
8     Click Add Block.
9     Under Add Content Block to Page, select: Predefined Region; from the Folder drop down menu,
       select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR); under the second drop down menu
       select the appropriate Post.
10   Click Add Content Block. **Repeat steps 7 – 10 to add additional Posts.
11   Under Page Content Blocks, under Content Region select: Sidebar.
12   Under Predefined Region, from the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder:
        Blog or NewsRoom (NR); under the second drop down menu select the appropriate
        Category Menu.
13   Click Add Block.

Edit Main Navigation Menu

Blogs and NewsRooms are provided with a Main Navigation Menu.  All links provided in Main Navigation Menu are generic.  Customization is necessary.  It is recommended to decide first what links will be featured in the Main Navigation then after that has been accomplished, return to this section to complete the customization.

Edit a Navigation Menu
1     Click on Content Generator, then on the Predefined Regions sub tab.
2     In the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR).
3     Click on the Predefined Region entitled: Main Navigation.
4     Under the Predefined Region Blocks, click the blue link labeled Edit.
5     Under Block Preview, choose the Line Item to edit and click on the blue link labeled Edit.
6     Under Selected Item Editor, edit the appropriate fields.
7     Click Save Changes.
8     Under Block Preview, repeat steps 5-7 to edit additional Line Items.

Add Link to Main Navigation Menu

Blogs and NewsRooms are provided with a Main Navigation Menu.  Additional links can be added and will automatically update all Pages that are utilizing the Main Navigation Predefined Region.

Add Link to a Navigation Menu
1     Click on Content Generator, then on the Predefined Regions sub tab.
2     In the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR).
3     Click on the Predefined Region entitled: Main Navigation.
4     Under the Predefined Region Blocks, click the blue link labeled Edit.
5     Under Block Preview, click Add Line Item.
6     Under Selected Item Editor, edit the appropriate fields.
7     Click Save Changes.
8     Under Block Preview, repeat steps 5-7 to add additional Line Items.

Note: Line Items may be arranged by clicking Top, Move Up, Move Down, or Bottom.   

Add Category Menu to NewsRoom

The NewsRoom provided does not have a Category Menu.  Set one up by following the instructions below.  We recommend deciding first on a list of Categories then, once the list has been established, create a Category Page for each Category.  After that has been accomplished, return to this section to create and place the Category Menu on the Newsroom Main Page.

Add Category Menu to NewsRoom
1     Click on Content Generator, then on the Predefined Regions sub tab.
2     In the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR).
3     Click Add Predefined Region.
4     Name the predefined Region: NewsRoom Categories.
5     Lock the Predefined Region to: sidebar.
6     Click Save Changes.
7     Under Predefined Region Blocks, click Add Block.
8     From Folder drop down menu,select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR);
       under the second drop down menu select: NR: Bullet List with Links.
9     Click Add Content Block.
10   Under Predefined Region Blocks, click the blue link labeled Edit under the Header item.
11   Under the Selected Item Editor, fill in the fields:

         White Headline: Type in: Categories.

         White Headline Icon: Select the Folder: Icon, then the Image: Icon: Star.

12   Click Save Changes.
13   Under Block Details, click Back to List.
14   Under Block Preview, and under Line Item, click on the blue link labeled Edit.
15   Under Selected Line Item Editor, fill in the Link Name:

             Link Destination: Select the Category Page.

             Link Name: Type in the name of the Category.

16   Click Save Changes.
17   Under Block Preview, click Add Line Item.
18   Repeat steps  14 - 16 for all additional Categories desired.
19   Click Save Changes.
20   Click on Content Generator, then on Pages sub tab.
21   In the Folder drop down menu, select the appropriate Folder: Blog or NewsRoom (NR).
22   Click on the Newsroom Main Page.
23   Under the Page Details block, click on WYSIWYG.
24   In the Upper left corner click Builder.
25   Add the following Predefined Region to the Sidebar Region: NewsRoom Categories.
26   Click Exit WYSIWYG Mode.

Deleting a Post in a Page

Deleting a Post in a page will remove the post from the page but not from the entire system.

Delete a Post in a Page
1     Click on Content Generator tab, then on the Predefined Regions sub-tab.
3     In the Folder drop down menu, select: Blog / NewsRoom.
4     Click the check box next to the Post (Predefined Region) that you want to delete.
5     Click Delete Selected.

Delete a Category Page in the Category Menu

Deleting a Post will remove the post from the page but not from the entire system.

Delete a Category Page in the Category Menu
1     Click on Content Generator tab, then on the Predefined Regions sub-tab.
3     In the Folder drop down menu, select: Blog / NewsRoom.
4     Click the check box next to the Post (Predefined Reigon) that you want to delete.
5     Click Delete Selected.

Delete a Link in the Main Navigation Menu

Deleting a Link in the Main Navigation Menu will remove the link from that page.

Delete a Link in the Main Navigation Menu
1     Click on Content Generator, then on the Predefined Regions sub tab.
2     In the Folder drop down menu, select: Blog / NewsRoom.
3     Click on the Predefined Region entitled: Main Navigation.
4     Under the Predefined Region Blocks, click the blue link labeled Edit.
5     Under Block Preview, navigate to the Link (Line Item) that you want to delete.
6     Click the blue link labeled Delete under that Line Item.
7     Click Save Changes.

Delete a Category Menu in the NewsRoom

Deleting a Category will remove the category, and any content within it, from the system.
